Industrial pharmacist is the term used for those pharmacists who are working in pharmaceutical industries. Different types of departments are present in the pharmaceutical industry and pharmacists can join any of the departments depending upon his/her interest.
The production department, quality control department, quality assurance department and product department are examples of some key departments.
In this article, we will try to clear the doubts of freshers who are afraid of joining the pharmaceutical industry due to different types of myths and false statements.
Myths
Different types of myths are spread in the pharmacist community where they are told if you join the pharmaceutical industry you will be bound in a covered area meaning you will have no freedom & all the time you will have to remain inside a closed area and there is no social life if you join the pharmaceutical industry.
Fact
The fact is not the same as this myth. The reality is totally opposite as there is no cut off from social life and you can enjoy all of your social life activities.
Join the job as per your interest and if a person has the interest to join the production department he must join because after joining his job he feels that time passed very fast and he has no idea when he started the work and when is time to go home.
If you have an interest in testing then you must join the quality control department of pharmaceutical industries and as per your interest, you will enjoy your job and will feel no boundaries are in pharma.
If you join the pharma industry department according to your interest then you will not feel any restrictions but if you have no interest in any of the pharma industry departments then you must not join the pharma because the myth is created by those who have no interest in the pharma sector.
The other contributory factor for freshers not to join the pharma industry is the myth related to salary. It is the wrong perception for freshers that a very low salary is offered in the pharmaceutical industry but it is not the complete face of this statement.
The fact is, at the start a low salary is offered because the candidate has no practical experience but the other face of this statement is that when you get some experience you are not only promoted but a raise in your salary is also given and when you switch from one pharma to another pharmaceutical industry you can easily get a huge jump in your salary.
Remember one thing if you want to get a higher salary at the start in pharma it is not possible because you have no work experience you have only a degree but when you get experience you are paid according to your skills and experience.
Conclusion
To conclude this article I have some advice for freshers who are new and want to join the pharmaceutical industry, must take career advice from a professional who is working in the same field where you want to join.
Do not take advice to join pharma from a professional who is working in hospital or sales as he has no insights into pharma and will not guide you properly. Always consider and take advice from those who are experts in the same field so they will guide you better and one thing more, do not target money at the start of your career, just get the job as per your interest and if you have the abilities and skills, you will get more success and money in your life from the job of your interest.
