SOP For Cleaning Of Dispensing Barrel Pump

Standard operating procedure for cleaning of dispensing barrel pump and pipe.

1.0 Purpose

The purpose of this SOP is to develop a standard procedure for cleaning of barrel pump and pipe.

2.0 Scope

The current standard operating procedure is applicable for the procedure used for cleaning of barrel pump and transfer pipe used in store for transferring of solvent during dispensing.

3.0 Responsibility

3.1 Dispensing operator is responsible for cleaning of barrel pump and transfer pipe.

3.2 The store officer is responsible for implementing this SOP.

3.3 The store manager is responsible for ensuring the implementation of this SOP.

3.4 Q.A Officer monitors the compliance of this SOP.

Note 

Barrel pump and pipe is used in store for dispensing of solvent from bulk drum to the production container.

4.0 Procedure

4.1 The dispensing operator shall remove the barrel pump & pipe from the drum.

4.2 The dispensing operator shall add the transfer pipe & barrel pump in polythene bag.

4.3 Close the polythene bag with a tie clip,attach to be cleaned label & transfer it to the washing area.

4.4 The dispensing operator shall remove the barrel pump and transfer pipe from the polythene bag in the washing area.

4.5 The dispensing operator shall wash the barrel pump and transfer pipe with raw water.

4.6 The dispensing operator shall add 25 liters of purified water in the SS container & dip the base of the barrel pump in the SS container to transfer the purified water through pipe.

4.7 Now add 5 liters of 1% food grade detergent solution in the SS container & operate the barrel pump to ensure thorough washing with food grade detergent.

4.8 Now again take 10 liters of purified water in an SS container & operate the barrel pump to remove detergent.

4.9 Wash external parts of barrel pump & pipe with 1% food grade detergent followed by purified water.

4.10 Dry the external portion with dry lint free cloth.

4.11 Hang the pipe & barrel pump to its hanger to ensure internal parts drying.

4.12 After drying, add barrel pump and transfer pipe in a polythene bag & attach the cleaned label.

4.13 Store it in a cleaned equipment cabinet & record cleaning activity in logbook.
