SOP For Vibro Sifter

Standard Operating Procedure for Vibro Sifter or vibratory sifter also known as Russel Sifter.

1.0 Purpose

The purpose of this SOP is to develop a standard procedure for operating the Vibro Sifter.

2.0 Scope

This SOP is applicable for the Vibro Sifter used in the mixing or granulation area of the production section.

3.0 Responsibility

3.1 Machine Operator is responsible for operating the Vibro Sifter.

3.2 Production Pharmacist is responsible for the implementation of this SOP.

3.3 The HOP is responsible for ensuring the implementation of the current SOP.

3.4 Q.A. Officer monitors the compliance of this SOP.

Note

Different models of the vibro sifter are available with single or multiple discharging chutes where in single chute models only one sieve is used for sieving & in two or three chute models more than one sieves are used for sifting & size separation according to particle size.

4.0 Procedure

4.1 Pharmacist will ensure that the Vibro Sifter, sieves & the area are properly cleaned.

4.2 Pharmacist will ensure that the Vibro Sifter & the area is labeled with product-related labels

4.3 After ensuring the cleaning of the vibratory sifter & checking the sieve’s integrity take line clearance from the Quality Assurance officer.

4.4 Quality assurance officer shall also verify the Sieve number & its integrity according to BMR.

4.5 After line clearance assemble the sieve & other parts, insert the wire plug of the Vibro sifter into the wall-mounted socket.

4.6 Press the On Button to turn Russel sifter/Vibro sifter On.

4.7 Attach the polythene bag to the discharging chute or chutes of the sifter depending on the model of the Vibro sifter or place a container/containers to collect sieved or sifted materials.

4.8 Add material to be sieved or sifted from the charging port with the help of SS scope and turn On the Vibratory system.

4.9 Adjust the Vibrations according to the nature of the material & complete all the sieving or sifting processes.

4.10 After completion of the sieving or sifting process, turn off the Vibro sifter, remove the container or polythene bag containing the material, weigh it & label it.

4.11 Remove the wire of the Vibro sifter, attach ‘To be cleaned label’ and record the activity in the logbook of Vibro sifter.
